EAD processing is a big mess. Sometimes the applicants screw it up by wrongfully selecting A(5) instead of C(9) and thus by sending off the application to the wrong office. And sometimes the INS loses paper work or not send a receipt.
If you get a receipt then you\'re lucky. You can take it to a local distric office in 90days and get an interim EAD.
Asylees now have unrestricted employment eligibility. And if you look in the I-9 we can show IDs other than the EAD to prove our employment eligibility to the employers. Employer cannot specifically ask for the EAD anymore.
But INS has not made an official firm statement on whether Asylees need to renew their EADs every year.
