Hi friends,
could somebody help me out here? I cannot understand what is happening to my application for a visa. I went for an interview since Febraury 2005 and have since date not had a reply from the consular. Is someone in here having a similar problem? Though they colleccted my passport, they have since then done nothing. Please share if you have an idea.

Yes LucyMo i did. I have been calling them all this while and all the say is that they are still processing. I called lately suggesting that, if there is a problem, i had better been told because i need my passport for other transactions and they said they are still interested in my case. This has always been the response since my interview and i doubt the outcome of this kind of a delay.
Any ideas what i could do next? Can i contact a congress man now?

no reason to contact the congressman. They have some power over the local offices, but in my humble opinion, no power over consulates at all.
Did the consulate say it was the FBI check that was pending? or something else?
You could try to contact FBI. This forum may have information on how to do it.

the congress man seemed helpless as i see it. He has been useful since i contacted his office. As for the consulate, they didnt say anything about FBI or whatever,thats the most annoying thing. All the say and repeatedly too is that,they have some administrative issues with processing. I fear that this may be so rigt on september 30th, considering that its already just too old.
How do i get the FBI can some one help? Is there anything new i must know while contacting them?

hello vera,i think we are having the same problem in nigeria too,for the past 4 month visa has not been given out to all dv winners,each time i call the consular there reply is that our visa has not been approved by wasgshinton.i don't know what's happening,i'm really confused.if anybody could help,plz do.

you may be correct. Thats exactly what they have been telling me here too.I got impatient and asked if it wasnt a trick to delay till september 30 and they said no,that they are still interested in my case. I just cant understand especially as they are keeping my passport all this while. It would be a shame if they would return it to me later without the visa. But do they really care?
I just hope they do.
