Hi Guys, pls just a quick question,I am an asylum applicant on f-1 status also, and when I applied for the FAFSA I signed up for selective service system but later saw that those on f-1 status don't need to but at the same time asylum applicants have to sign up for that but am not interested in that ,do I need to still sign up for that even though I wont be awarded financial aid. Thanks guys

If you are required to register for SSS, then you register for it because it's the law, not because of financial aid. You may be denied citizenship later if you don't register. If you are not required to register, then you don't register.

It is in your best interest to register. A lot of federal services require being registered for SSS. It is one of the requirements for citizenship.
