Hi! Much to my dismay , I recently was informed that I am not a US citizen. This was even though I have lived here all but 3 months of my life . I was born in Ireland and brought over as a infant . Unfortunately , my parents were told by airport customs at the time ,upon entry into the United States that I was an American though them .This as it turned out was bad information . They were Irish immigrants , but had documentation to be in the United States legally, prior to my birth . I also have 3 older siblings born in the USA . I recieved my SSN at a young age . I have lived here , went to school here , served 4 years honorably in the US Navy( although the wrong years according to my lawyer- No war going on) , and worked here my entire life . Now I must go about the whole process of becoming an American , even though this is the only life I've ever known . Its funny, but I run the risk of being deported to a country of which I have never known.
But I digress . I am not quite up to speed on these abbreviations and terms that you all use on these boards , so I'm not sure if what I'm reading necessarily applies to me . So far I have applied for a I-485 and a work authorization card . I have had my biometrics taken once and recieved a work authorization card . This is essential in order to renew my drivers license. So thats done . My questions are simple , but for the life of me I cant find a definitive answer looking through these boards .Probably aint looking in the right place . So please bear with me . Any input would be appreciated .
1) What exacty is the next step? Will I have to go for a second biometrics? Will the USCIS call me for an interview?
2) How long should I have to wait for a response fron USCIS for my Green card ? I live in NJ and believe I will be processed through the Cherry Hilll office , even though my biometrics were taken in Philly .
3) My work authorization card expires in October . When do I need to apply for a renewal, as Im sure NJDMV will only issue a DL valid through that date.
4) Has anyone else applied through Registry provision ? Is the process any easier or faster ,or conversely maybe more complicated ? Thanks in advance and good luck to all.
