I know this has been kicked around on this forum...

Is there anyone out there who knows from first hand experience how my (US/EU - dual citizenship) will affect my chances of getting a job with the Federal Government or the State Department requiring security clearance?

Is there any literature out there on this issue? Any government publications that clearly state the dual citizenship is a deal-breaker for certain clearances...?

Thanks, your input is much appreciated!

The answer is: it depends! It depends on the agency issuing the clearance, on the level of the clearance, on the countries involved in the dual/multiple citizenship, and on other factors such as how long you have been a naturalized citizen. Try google search "security clearance dual citizenship" eg

Q: Does the INA currently state that concept of dual citizenship is tolerated by the U.S.?

If you want to work in a job for the State Department or Dept. of Homeland Security where obtaining and maintaining security clearance are requirements.... Do you guys know of specific cases where applicant were denied because they are dual citizens?

Thanks for you help in this matter.... the links have been very helpful.
