Second Package - DSP-122 & DS-230

Hi,

I have some questions regarding the second package. As you know, in the DSP-122 (item#3) we should write the mailing address at which we receive our mail. What I wrote down in that item was a c/o address (the address of one of my relatives in the US). I am not in the US and by writing my relative's address I tried to be notified as soon as possible regarding my DV case.

On the other hand, in DS-230 (item#13) we should write down our current address as well. I want to know where my second package will be sent. will it be sent to the US address or to my own address outside the US?

I heard that the second package will be sent to the embassy where I am supposed to be interviewed. Then, the embassy sends the package to me. Is it true? If yes, does the embassy use my current address mentioned in DS-230 or the address mentioned in DSP-122?

Please note that I am from a country where there is no US embassy there due to some political problems. So, I should go to a US embassy in a neighbor country for the interview.

Your help is very much appreciated.
Thanks

you will get a notification of your interview mailed to your MAILING address.

You can also get the date of your interview if you call or email KCC AFTER your case number is current.

A lot of countries do not have a US embassy. Their residents go to the US consulates in a different country which has jurisdicion over your territory. It would help to know what country you are from. It's difficult to help, if we have to guess.

LucyMo, your hints are so precious to me. Thank you so much.

I thought just two countries don't have US embassy. Anyway, I am Iranian and my interview will be in Ankara.

According to what you mentioned, my relative in the US will receive the second package, right?

What about the procedure of sending the second package? is it firstly sent to the embassy by the KCC?

A lot of countries do not have a US embassy.
let me rephrase it - a lot of countries do not have a US consulate/embassy that processes immigrant visas.

First KCC package is usually the notification letter and forms. You fill out the forms, send them to KCC and wait. The second KCC package (going to the mailing address) - the interview invitation letter. THat's it. By that time you will have collected all the required documents (discussed a lot on the forum), and you will bring them with you to the interview. You don't even need to have the invitation letter - you will be on the invitee list at the embassy. You do need to know your interview date: email or phone KCC when your number becomes current to get it.

Thanks a lot LucyMo.

I thought in the second package there were some forms (medical forms, etc.) which I should take them for the interview. According to what you said, it won't happen a bad thing if I don't receive the second package by the interview; the main point is that I should be aware of my interview date and I can take it from the KCC. Anyway, as some of our friends said in this forum, if I don't receive the second package soon enough, presumably I can send an email and ask the KCC to send it by an email.

you should have your medical done before the interview, the doctor will have all the necessary forms. You need to find out where the US consulate appointed doctors are, they may not be any in your country.
