Second FP Notice after a long namecheck

Hi Folks, as you can see from my signature, I had my 1st FP taken in Dec '07 and haven't heard anything since. I received a request for second FP on April 4th, '09. Not sure if this just means that it's been 15 months since my last FP (it exactly has been 15 months this March) or if it means that I should be receiving the IL shortly. Veterans please advise.
 
It means your FPs have expired and that there was recent activity on your case. Have you talked to an IO recently via phone or Infopass to determine if your name check is cleared?

I have an infopass scheduled for the 9th, so I will see what they say.
 
Most probably NC is clear

I don't want to get your hopes up but seems like your name check has been cleared. As Bob says it is also because of your FP has expired but normally they send out 2nd FP if there is some activity and that seems like your NC is cleared.(I filed in 04/07 and I got my 2nd FP done on 12/08. after that I called and I was told I am in interview queue. Got the IL on 02/09 and I am now a citizen as of 2nd of this month).

Call customer service..talk to IO..most probably they will tell you your NC is cleared.

This is most likely the case - once the FPs are more than 15 months old, the only thing that triggers the second FP is some activity going forward so you can expect to have the NC done. Mine was a similar situation and so was that for three others in my area who all waited on their NCs to be completed.
We all got our interview letters two weeks after doing the second FP.

See my timeline below. My second FP notice came about in mid Sep 2008 (for FPII on Oct 4) which is when my NC was cleared.

My timeline sucks though - I wish no one waits this long!

Yep, Security clearance succesful, and interview letter will be issued right after your 2nd FP.

I did the infopass today and the officer told me that background check hasn't cleared yet. I am not quite sure if she knew what she was saying, because she later added: 'Most people don't realize that background checks take 2 years, so yours should be done by Nov'. I wasn't particularly in a mood to educate, so I left it at that.

All the better to ask for a supervisor as the answer she gave you was totally misleading and false. I've seen and heard so many IO's give wrong answers rather than admit they just don't know.
 
Ok, so I just got off the phone and the IO told me that she sees that they sent out a notice for Interview on Friday 04/24. I asked her what the interview date was and she said I cannot disclose that information to you, but you will have enough time. You should wait till you get the letter. I told her that I was under the impression that the filed office usually sends out the interview letter and she said that's all the information I have sir.
So I am hoping what she meant was that they asked the field office to schedule an interview.
However I don't see my case disappearing from the USCIS online case status website, which seems to be the norm for people who have their interviews scheduled. So I will have to wait and see.
 
Alright it's here!!! Got the IL, exactly 13 days after 2nd fingerprint. Thanks everyone for your encouraging words. It has been a harrowing 18 months. Interview is set for June 4th at Saint Paul/Minneapolis office.
