hey guys,
I'm presently out of status. I came with a visa which is now expired !! I'm so desperate to adjust my status, I went to Florida a few months ago after hearing about a Haitian Organization sponsoring people and that I'll be able to get my work authorization and SS then later apply for my GC. I went and paid $450 plus tips to the people there (Called HACHO). All that I've received so far is a Notice of Action (i765). I went and took biometrics at INS and was informed that the whole thing is a scam !!! They said that I won't be granted anything out of this. I'm now scared because immigration has my fingerprints and I'm worried if I should get ligitimate sponsorship later, if it'll go against me. Please shed some light into this matter. I'm scared and confused.

Buddy the only thing you can do is get married or wait for the new amnesty program. As they have your fingerprints name and etc so you are in the system now. I don't think you need to worry as long as you haven't done any crime you will be ok.

yep Eddie, but the question is, if i get married, would I still have to go through biometrics? And also what new amnesty program (for temporary workers ?) that Pres. Bush proposed last year? Do u have any idea when this would be in effect? I know it's a proposal but not yet a Bill / law.

I was in Florida and read about that. The HACHO people allegedly filed thousands of baseless EAD applications for Haitians who were desperate to have a piece of documentation. They attracted naive customers from across the US. People drove hours to their South Florida office for help. But yes it was a scam and the guy who ran HACHO has been arrested by DHS. On the day the DHS moved in to shut down HACHO there were quite a few would be customers inside and they were taken into custody for deportation as well.

I don't think you will need to do biometrics again I think so I could be wrong but again it makes no difference as they already have all your info.

There are 2 proposals one from Bush and the other one from McCain and hopefully something should pass by the end of the year.

Bush's program has attracted no support in Congress (Only Congress can approve such programs, not Bush).

There are some amnesty PROPOSALS pending in Congress, but there has been no movement at all.
