San Diego Same-Day Passport????

I received my oath letter for the 22nd of March, however this conflicts "badly" with my vacation that I had planned months ago :(

Ceremony is at 9 am, and suppose I am done by 11am (small ceremony), is it feasible to expect to get the passport the same day if I can make it to the Passport Agency around 1130am? (they issue emergency passport and same day).

I have to travel outside the US the following Monday in the morning, (no time to pick up passport on Monday morning) and they do not open Saturdays. I am getting really stressed about it and not traveling means 1000's of dollars lost.

Does anyone have experience getting same day passport at a Passport Agency? I will have proof of travel for Monday morning? Do you guys think they will be able to issue the passport within 4 hours?

They open from 9 am till 4pm.

Thanks a lot for any feedback!

Well, I'd like to say this to get it out of the way - you ought to have known better to plan a vacation around this time.

Now, you will very likely be issued a same-day passport (95% chance at least). You can also ask for a new oath date and travel on your current passport. Finally, if you really have to, and if you will not lose the citizenship you currently hold, AND if you will be gone to another country for at least a month or two, you can leave on this passport, and apply for your US passport at the US mission in that country.

Thanks for your input.

You are right about planning around that time, however there was no way I could know when will I be scheduled for my Oath ceremony. And as I mentioned before I actually planned this even before applying for naturalization. Just bad luck it came down to a few days from my vacation period.

Anyway, I will try to get the Same day passport, seems it worked out for you as I can see on your signature.

There's a lady form passport office giving appointments for the day of oath ceremony after the ceremony.
You would get one of those. And she would let you know if you could have it on the same day.

Thanks a lot, I just moved my Flights now to Tuesday, that gives me half of Friday and all of Monday, That should be enough to get the passport I think. Else I am screwed ;(

I see you had your ceremony in Chula vista, how was it? any details? I heard is much smaller and faster, how long does it take usually? from check-in until you are free to go?

Can OP make appointment before oath? He only need to point out he is not a citizen yet but will be on that day.
He can fill teh passport application form in advance but do not sign and it (You can ot claim to be a US citizen
before you take oath) to save time

Make an appointment before the oath, but only 14 days before later. He need not claim anything. The application must be signed in front of the official anyway.

If you have your flight itinerary for Monday, show that instead of your new one so that they'll definitely issue you the passport the same day.
