Hi
I'm a GC holder and returning to US this month and my circumstances rule that I will apply for RP but will not be able to wait for biometrics app to come.

I've read the threads here and found out two possible solutions below; of which your knowledge and experiences suggest me to take:

Route A
1- File a new RP and send it
2- fly out us
3- when the bio app comes, go back to us for the app (or even try to postpone the app date)

Route B
1- file a new RP and send it
2- go to office next day and try to give fingerprints (will they accept it)
3- fly out us

Try route B first (not next day because you need the paper work to be received and at least you have application number by receipt or at least from the back of the cashed check) if not working you can persue route A.

Can you say which ASC would accept early fingerprinting? We are also in the same situation and trying to plan our trip to US and back.

Thank you mmed

About the Route A; if I can not make it this time I travel, I like to come back in June-July time (that is 4-5 months later) for fingerprinting.

Do you think that the normal, non-expediated processing time might give me that time slot? In other words;

mailing papers' date is start of Feb
scheduled app date that I will receive is June-July

is it logical or is it too long (based on the experience) ?

Route B won't work. They won't accept you for fingerprinting unless you have the fingerprint notice in hand, and you won't get the notice until it is about 1-2 weeks before the appointment.

If you can have someone collect your post for you, then that person can ask for the biometrics to be rescheduled until when you come back in June or July.

So does it mean that we can request for a time period (eg.May 20th-May31st) for the interview to be rescheduled.

It's not an interview, it's a fingerprinting and photographing appointment, and yes, you can request a certain time period.

FP notice is one day appointment, you should do the biometrics that day or reschedule it in advance after you receive the notice to another day mostly whithin few days or so. If you did not show up or rescheduled it, your application will be denied. The purpose of this travel permit, beside others, is to reduce the number of GC holders to those who realy want to stay and participate actively in the US not to those with chances overseas.

Thanks, could you please comment on my plan below.

We would like to come to US on begining of March and submit the application for the re-entry permit. So along with that I will send a cover letter asking for a specific time period (Eg. May 20th-MAy31st) and a specific ASC (eg. atlanta, GA)

But my mailing address is in Houston,TX so I think in effect the appointment should be scheduled in Houston.

What do you think. Any feedback is much appreciated.

No, this will not work at all. Cover letter is not required in the application and probably no one will look at it. Creating FP notice is an automated process taking into account the address you wrote in the application, you can for example write Texas address and send the application from GA, no broblem (the nearest center to the address you wrote in the application, not the zip code you sent the application from), the application time, the availability of vacant time in that center. It has nothing to do with what every applicant wish to be or when it will be. Do not forget that thousands if not millions apply for different applications which need FP and all those go to the same centers to do the biometrics for different applications and fulfilling the wish of every one is almost impossible. There should be a person in the address to pick it and till you the exact date or the letter will be returned to the USCIS (It is not forwardable notice)

Just a question about this comment:

Does that mean the person to call the office might identify himself if asked with no problem (I don't want to create a trouble for my friend who will help me).

Thnx
