Returning from India after 11 mnths

My mother has GC and is in India for the past 11 months and will be coming back this week to Canada. Is it ok if she enters into US this weekend and get the reentry stamp and then stay in Canada for a few months before coming back to US. Will it affect her GC status. Any suggestions are welcome.

If she enters US and go to Canada later, she can stay out for another 6 months.

Two trips exceeding a year with just a weekend visit to separate them is not a way too keep her status intact.
