Returning back to US 3 days before H1B expires

Hi,
I am planning my travel to return to US 3days before my I94 expires (stamped H1B visa) on March 2nd. Is this OK to say it is safe to return?
I will have my approved H1 transfer (I797) started from Dec 21st 2007 to Dec 21st 2010 and a letter from my company at the time of return showing that I am their working employee.
Do you still recommend to get my H1 stamped before I return?

I am in a similar situation. I am planning on entering US with 2 days of validity left! Please let me know if you find out anything. I will keep you informed if I learn something that might be helpful :)

Firstly, your H-1B stamp has no connection to your I-94. Secondly, you can return even on the last day of your visa's validity.

Can you provide some additional info on your friends case - like did he endure extra questioning by the POE officer? Documents asked? etc. etc.
