Resident Since Date for asylees, is it true that it is backdated one year earlier?

Hi,

I got my greencard through Asylum. I was approved on 2005 and the card says I am approved 2004. I called my paralegal and she said since I am an asylee that is it backdated one year. is that true? I also called immigration and they said the same thing, but I want feedback from immigrants here on this forum. Please help clarify, thanks!

It's true. They are giving you back the 1 year you had to wait before applying for GC,
