I acquired a 10 year residency card because I married a US citizen. Will I lose my residency if I divorce? If I can maintain my residency, will I be able to apply for renewal?

why divorce?

Do you know how long would I have to be married before getting divorced and maintainin residency?

No such guideline exist. USCIS would be remiss if it advised immigrants on how long they need to be married before they divorce their sponsor
Having your 10yr greencard has no restrictions, except you aren't allowed to marry a gay person wearing a blue hat... :D :D

You can divorce your spouse tomorrow and the immigration can't take away your greencard, except if it can be proven that you procured your greencard in fraudalent means. As long as the marriage was bona fide, then you are fine.

If I might ask? Why divorce now?

Haha! You guys are too funny! I like to think ahead. And no it is not because my husband has become abusive! I just want to make sure all grounds are covered. I got an attorney by the way! Thanks! ;)

loachiver,

Why the spouse ought to be abusive? It was a silly question, but most people who are abused by spouses are straightforward about it... If the spouse was being abusive, then I would recomended help as I have in other cases of spousal abusive.

Oh... I have a sneaking suspicions that you might be the abuser.... :D the abuser of......hmmmm...hmmmm...hmmm penile enlargements...

get a head...in life...

Blue.... I am glad you see the humor in all of this.... :) because I know stiff necks who can't see life as fun thing to be part...
