Required stay in USA within first year of receiving green card

Hi,

My mother received a green card on Apr 05, 2011 in Delhi, India. She is planning to move to USA in June 2011. Once she comes to USA in June 2011, she wants to visit India for about 3 months from Nov2011 - Jan 2012. My question is - Is there any legal requirement that she has to stay in USA for 6 months at a stretch within first year of receiving a green card ? or can she visit India for 3 months from Nov 2011 to Jan 2012 ?

Many people just come to the U.S. to secure the status then depart in order to "wind up affairs" in preparation for the final move to the U.S. It is a common scenario.
