Requesting a replacement SS card – conflict with required docs

I thought I had my ss card but when I looked in my safe, it wasn’t there. I don’t remember last time I saw it and I thought it was with my other immigration docs. Anyway, I checked sss.gov and here’s what they require for non-citizen.

Immigration status and work authorization
To prove your U.S. immigration status, you must show us the current U.S. immigration document, I-94,
Arrival/Departure Record, issued to you when you arrived in the United States. If you are an F-1 or M-1
student, you also must show us your I-20, Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status. If
you are a J-1 or J-2 exchange visitor, you must show us your DS-2019, Certificate of Eligibility for
Exchange Visitor Status.
For most foreign workers, we only need to see an I-94, Arrival/Departure Record. Some foreign
workers also must show their work permits from DHS (I-766 or I-688B).

I have an I-94 which is expired because I never left country after I renewed my H1B. I have current H1B paperwork but I submitted 485/130/131/751 last month so I guess my status will be AOS as soon as they start processing.

I was wondering if they’d accept my H1B or AOS receipt as evidence or if I should wait till I get my EAD instead? The only concern is I want to have my SS in hand at the day of AOS interview and I might not get my EAD before the interview. Any suggestions? Thanks.

OK, so I can just use the new I-94 that came with my H1B. I always get confused because the I-94 I used to enter US last time has expiration date (by the inspection officer) and it is expired. I never used the new H1-B to enter US so it's still attached to it.

My lawyer told me my H1B will be voided as soon as I apply for AOS. I've read different thing here though...

Of course. That's why there's an I-94 attached to the approval notice; it's to replace the one you were given.

No, your lawyer told you that he or she doesn't have a good grasp of immigration law developments in the past decade.
