replaciing my green card

Is your card expired or has no expiration date? Did you lose your card? Did you get acrd when you were a child but are now an adult?

The only reason that I can think of if you fancy the new one is that you misplaced it, once you get the new one turn the old one in and tell em you found it in the couch.......lol, by the way new one is cool since it is green and I like it but is it worth spending $400 on?

I have read that there is a new green card, and I was wondering if I was to replace my old card which is still valid, what reason should I check? I didnt see the option of getting a new card while having the old one in hand. That's what i asked the question.

You are not supposed to replace it if it has correct information on it and it's not about to expire, not damaged, not lost or stolen. There is no option for replacing it just because you feel like it.

Thanks jacko, always here to rescue us. I thought at some point that Immigration officers might ask one day at POE, why you still have the old card? bla bla ...

When they change the card's design, there is always a 10-year period where there is a mix of people traveling with the old and new designs. They're not going to harass you for having the old design; in 2020 all remaining cards with the previous design will expire and thus the problem will take care of itself.

Only the people who still have cards without an expiration date issued decades ago sometimes get asked about why they still have the old card.

Upon looking again on the I-90 form, it looks like you could choose option J "I have a prior edition of the Alien Registration Card".

But given that your card was issued in recent years and presumably the picture still looks like you, why would you want to spend money to replace it years before it expires?
