Renewing TN through POE

I first came to the US on a TN Visa. TN was issued by a client, successfully renewed 3 times. 3 years ago when i wanted to renew the TN my consulting company said that they will issue me the TN since now they have a presence in the US and they are issuing tn for other consultants. Got another TN for 3 years from consulting company and started working for the same client.

My TN is about to expire and both client and consulting company are willing to issue me a Letter. Since i went back and forth with the client TN and consulting company i decided maybe i should hire a Lawyer who could tell me which TN to take to the POE. The lawyer did a free consultation and told me that what i am doing is wrong and that i can't go back and forth with same client and consulting company it should be either / or/ and if the border people found out what i am doing they might consider this as TN Letter shopping and will bar me... since i am on Mgmt consulting TN.

The Lawyer did say that his law firm can fix this now i am confused ..........What the lawyer said make sense to me which i didn't even thought about before.
The lawyer told me that if the POE asked the name of the client and if i said XYZ they will know that i have already got a TN from that client and will reject my TN.
I am not sure if i did something wrong however the lawyer made it sound like i broke so many laws and i am really worried last thing i want is an issue that will bar me and for life.
Anyone been in this situation? Please help.

the border agent was correct. With consulting company sponsorship, you can work for whatever client they wish, which is much more flexible. The lawyer is flat wrong

Thanks for the prompt answer. So you are saying i shouldn't have anything to worry about? If i took the consulting company TN and the border agent asked for the name of client wouldn't they know that i had a TN initially from that client?

The lawyer mentioned if i did tell them it will make anyone on POE suspicious that i already had tN from them before and since MGMT Consulting is temp they can deny the fact that i have been with this client for so long?

Sorry don't know about which border agent you are referring to

thanks

Thank You Nelson i spoke with another buddy of mine who has been on a TN for a while he said the same that either TN is fine as long as i don't own the company or have controlling stake in any one of the company which i DON"T.

PS the lawyer initially asked me for 3000$ when i said no her EA send me an email informing that they are now giving 50% discount in the month of October to all their client's and to take advantage of this offer.

Thanks for all your help

Take the 100% discount and avoid her like the plague. She obviously realized that she has no value to give.
