I'm Egyptian living in Egypt. I'm a computer Eng. I'm 45 years old.
I've visited US in Nov, 2002 under B1/B2 VISA. At the airport it took me three hours to enter US. The INS inspector asked me to make a lengthy procedure called registration that include taking my information, my finger prints and my photo. They gave me papers instructed me to ask for an interview in any INS office if I spent more than 30 days and to report my departure to the INS office at the airport while leaving US. I spent 25 days and I left to Canada (I did the registration departure procedure in the NIS office at the airport). After a week in Canada I went again in the same procedure while I was entering US back. After 27 days I left US to Egypt (I did the registration departure procedure in the INS office at the airport).
At that time I knew that all citizens of certain list of countries should make this registration. Also I knew that Egypt was not in this list.I do not know why they selected me to make this registration procedure.
In 2007 my VISA was expired and I got another B1/B2 VISA for
5 Years/multiple entry.
I'm now planning to visit US this spring. So I've many question in mind. I'll be highly appreciated if anyone give me an answer for any of this question
1- Why they selected me to do this registration although Egypt not from the
list of countries which all their citizens should do the registration ???
2- Will I do the registration again when I arrive to US next spring...???
If the answer to question 2 is YES...
3- Is there a way to avoid this procedure... or can I do anything that may
keep me away from this lengthy tedious procedure
