Hi,

I am a Canadian PR. I applied Candian while working on H1-B visa in USA.I got Canada PR some time back.

Recently, I got US PR status.

I am undecided whether to settle down in Canada or in US.

I need to travel to Canada. What status should i travel on ? and what to expect at the border ?

Thanks

You have three years from your landing date to make up your mind. So take your time and decide which country your want to make your home. Right now you can enter Canada on your GC or MC. The choice is yours.

Go with American, get yoru citizenship and then you can migrate to canada. It's much easier to get canadian citizenship than american.

I would suggest get american citizenship, then go for canadian PR or citizenship and have dual citizenship. Then, you can move to and fro from each country ;)

of course... all this takes time. I think you can file for your US citizenship after 5 years of being a PR (assuming you qualify) and then of course, it will take time to get your canadian stats as well...

The OP's Canadian PR will no longer be valid if he stays in the US for the next 5 years.

I think you need to do it the other way around, go to canada, get your canadian citizenship while maintaining your green card by visiting the US once every 6 months, then come back to the US and after 2.5 years you can then become a us citizen.
The only hassle is how they will react when you apply for us citizenship using your new canadian passport, they can argue that you abondoned your green card, but I'm not sure how this may work. It's what I intend to do anyways.

Hi,
