They have given me till May 30, 2005 to respond.

just one question: is it worth hiring a lawyer to do this RFE (or RFI whatever )for me?

same here folks..just came from gym and open the letter box with prayer..and my prayer finally got listened.
got RFI today.and same info and dates i have on mine too.

kaoticfury! I don't think that you would need lawyer. Just fulfill their requirements (Medical Exam + Bio Form) and you should be OK.

how long would it take to get GC approval after i submit these evidence? any idea?
and whats the difference between RFI and RFE?

thank u

No one, not even the INS, can precisely answer your first question!!!!

Ok i got the response from you by calling the CIS line and getting an intelligent answer from a lady who knew what she was talking about(I Think she even had a college degree).

In the prehistoric days of USCIS(2001 or before), An application was never verified to see if everything that was required existed. Then the envelope was opened and a Notice was sent that hey we got your application..!

Fast forward to After 2001 or I dont know since when cuz she didn't know either...Every application that is received is opened and made sure that everything that is required for the application (for instance fees etc) are there..then ONLY a receipt is sent out. This is called Time Management which the CIS learned few years before the entire world knew(since prehistoric times)...

So to answer your question, The RFI is basically them verifying what should be in your application is there before an immigration officer(with masters or Phd sarcastically speaking) looks at it and if he had a fight with his wife that day...asks for a RFE to make your life as miserable as him. No she didn't say all that but I added that when she said "etc etc".I Think she meant that?..Go figure...!...

There is no time-frame as to when your application will be approved but it seems like this years cut-off date is close to 10/00 or 11/01 depending on how they go....

So RFI is a high-school graduate looking at your application and saying "damn that sucker missed his medicals.."....and an RFE is the Masters degree holder Immigration Officer saying "Damn that Brother from a different mother needs some xplaining to do..Just because My wife didn't pack my baloney sandwich..no other reason"....

If this doesnt answer your question. I can try to explain in Gibberish. The prefered language of the CIS...

Don't get your hopes up!

This is just like when the INS started to send out FP notices last year o everyone, even those who filed I-485 as late as 2004.

I have not heard anything regarding my case, not even an update on the status of my FP which I did in 04/04.

Not to sound negative, but with these clowns, you just never know!

So after sending RFI, should we expect direct approval (to go and have a stamp) or would there be one more road block such as RFE.

Has Anybody gone from RFI to stamping?

Well the point is...Send in your RFI response and just wait...You can't expect anything ok?...So send RFI and wait for maybe a RFE Or an approval..most likely they are giving out RFI and then once the court order is granted..they will send approvals....Because with the 10,000 quota, they will be only procesing RD till may 00...May00 till maybe Nov 00 is the additional 8,000..Its just getting them ready

RFI Received!

FYI, my brother and sister got their RFI on March 9 and 10, 2005. The online status did not change at all.
ND: August 28, 2000 and Oct 26, 2000
RFI asking for Medical exam I-693, supplemental to I-693 and biographic form G-325A.
Also the dateline is the same May 30, 2005.

RFI huh? What does that stand for: Request For Further Information?

Seems like CIS is coming up with new forms and regulations every day. Any way, it is difficult to tell you how long it will take before your cases are approved. Usually with RFEs, an ajudicating officer sends them out - which means that the officer is working on your case and is just waiting for your reply.

It is great to hear that late 2000 folks are finally hearing something. Good luck to all of you - and please keep us posted. In the meantime, I am going to try to find out what this RFI is all about. :)
