Reapplying I-485 please advise

Gang,

I am new to this form, so i don't have the language down, but here is my status, I was approved as an asylee 1998, but i filled GC 2001, i went through the medical/FP. but 2004 i recieved another FP, which i did but i missed my medical which they claim they needed a new one. now since i missed the Medical they declined my application, i was going back and forth, and here what i heard so far:

1- Apply another I-485, go through the process
2- It should take max 6month.
3- I should include my wife in this application, she is out of status, she finished school here and recieved 1 year work permit, but that was 5 years ago. so I need all the advise i can get please..

I don't believe that one can adjust status as a derivative based on an asylum application if one is out of status. I would see an attorney to discuss what options she has.
 
Reapplying I-485

Is it Accurate that the INS is speeding up the process, i heard it might take 6month.
