I have worked on H1 for a little bit more than 3 years and my H1 has been extended once. But shortely after the extension, I stoped working and transfered to H4. Now, I want to go back to work, is it possible to reapply for H1 and use the rest of the 2 years unused from my previous H1( so the total time I work on H1 will be 6 years)?
Anybody have similar experience?
Thanks a lot for your advise.

You can go back and forth to h1/h4/h1/f1/h4/h1 with in 6 years period. if you woulf have filed LC through "any company" , even you can stay beyond 6 years with no problem

Thank you so much, Great-guru,
But I have been on H4 for 2 years, Does this 2 years on H4 also counted in my 6 years? Or just the time I was on H1 is counted.

Yes. if you are in H4 it will be counted towards your H1 6 yeas cap.

So, Between H1 and H4, I will reach my 6 year caps in Jan 2006. But my husband till have 2 more years with his h1. Can I still be on H4 after Jan 2006 or do I have to return to home country.

That was the debate going on this forum, but my answer is yes to H4 not to H1.

Can I change to F-1 then? Maybe not.
What if I go back to home country, do I have to stay for a year and reenter US to get another 6 years of H(either h4 or H1)?
US immigration laws! it just make our life so complicated.
