Re-fingerprinting if 485 pending more than 1 year

I have been advised by an attorney that BCIS may start fingerprinting inviduals whose 485 has been pending for over 1year again.

Has anyone else heard the same news? If so, I am assuming that after the fingerprinting is done it will be sent to the FBI and that may cause the case to be delayed for another year or so?

This is totally ridiculous!

Fingerprint checks expire after 15 months. It doesn't matter how long your I-485 has been pending, the clock starts ticking from the day your fingerprint check was done. My FP expires on April 31st, 2003. The odds of my interview happenning before then are about the same as Bush and Saddam french kissing on network TV.

with that said, do you think BCIS prioritize processing those with fingerprinting dates closer to the expiration date?

i hope they do even though my fingerprint was done in July 2002. it looks like it will be a while for me to even come close to hitting the expiration.

even though i like to get processed asap, i do hope BCIS move fast on those with closer expiring fingerprints. i would hate to see people having to re-do fingerprints. that'd piss me off.
 
2nd FP notice recd

We have recd our 2nd FP notice as our fingerprints have expired ?!?!? Anyway, my lawyer says that our case will not move unless the 2nd set of FP's are verified by the FBI..which means another 6-8 weeks delay ( that is being optimistic )

Why does he believe it'll take 6-8 weeks? My wife and I's fingerprints were taken and validated by the FBI in 6 *days*.

Hah! My congressional inquiries indicated that Atlanta INS (oops, now BCIS - Bureau of Confusion, Inefficiency and Screwups) was so busy with Special Registration that they weren't processing any interviews until that was over. Special Registration for Group III (Pakistan and Saudia Arabia) ends the day after tomorrow so there may be some hope. Not much, though. I'll go bug my Congressman and Senators some more.

I am also afraid that my prediction was somewhat inaccurate. I believe that it's now called "freedom kissing".

How do we check the FPs are "validated" ???
If online-msg says "... your FP was received on mm/dd/yy..." Does this mean FP validation ?? I'm confused..
 
TheRealCanadian, the special reg will not end with group III. There is group IV ending next month, and god knows how many more groups??

Yes, it means they got the results back from the FBI.
