Re-entry worries

Urgent: Advise Needed

I arrive in the US from Jamaica on a B1 visa, to report to the bank financing our projects in the caribbean. I want to purchase a return ticket from US to Trinidad to delivery checks and return with construction documents for our bankers.

My problem is my friend is telling me i can't re-enter the US from Trinidad on a return ticket because i'm not a US Citizen or Permanent Resident. I however have my ticket showing my departure date for going back to Jamaica.

The intent of your friend's warning is correct, but the terminology is not. If the Trinidad return ticket originated from the US, a POE officer may be highly suspicious with regards to where you actually live. The officer may suspect you of living in the US on a visitor visa. However since you have proof of onward travel to Jamaica, you should be ok. Just be mentally prepared to defend yourself.

Thanks, Triple Citizen,

Our company HQ is in Trinidad, but our projects are in a numbers of the caribbean islands. I coordinate the financing of these projects with the Investment Bank here in the US. What document do i need to show POE to calm their suspicions. My passport and residence is Jamaica.
