Hello,

Could you please clarify for me as a Green Card holder you can stay outside the US for less than 12 months before requiring a re-entry visa or has this been changed to six months. Also, can you please show me the section in immigration code of law that deals with this issue? Thank you.

Hello,
I am looking for the answer to the same question.
Is it more than 6 months or more than 1 yr trip, that one needs the re-entry permit to come back ?

So If I do want to apply for citizenship, is it okay for me to make trips
abroad lasting more than 6 months and less than 1 year. If I can keep
coming for 2 weeks (lets say after every 8-10 month trip), I can
keep the permanent residence forever. Is this correct ?

Thanks.
JC.

Normally, just visiting for 2 weeks is not good enough to keep PR status. Or, to be precise - "visiting" is not good enough to keep PR status. One has to live in US permanently. Living in USA permanently and visiting another country for 50 weeks is different from living in another country for 50 weeks and visiting US for 2 weeks. You can keep your PR status with former situation, but not with the later one.
