Re-Entry Permit taking 1+ year??

I really need help to see if there is anything I can do about my problem. I'm currently under an Asylum status with my green card application pending since august 2000.
On March 15, 2004 I applied for a renewal of my Re-entry permit (refugee travel document), which in the past has taken me 1-2 months to get. This time however, I've recieved the receipt notice stating that it will take 545-600 days to process this type of application. I'm in need of an emergency trip at the beginning of June, and I don't know what to do!

Is there a way of expediting/speeding up the process of the re-entry permit?? Why is it taking so long this time? Please help.

Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

This is the wrong forum for your question. It should be posted in the Political Asylum discussions.

For your problem, try contacting your area Congressmen. That will help.

Sorry, I'm new to this Forum. It took me a while to figure out that there were different threads...

Thanks for your help. I'll post the question in the right forum.
