RD vs ND which one counts? :confused:

Hey while I am still a member of this forum I thought I'd dispell all the myths that are out there? Which date counts really a Receipt Date or a Notice Date? I know that in most cases they are about a week apart, but really from CIS perspective when do they start processing an application. As an example in my EAD they recieved it on 04/30 but on the website it says we recieved your application on 05/07. The latter it turns out is the notice date (at least on the paperwork they mailed me).

Now here is where the confusion sets in. They recieved my I-485 application on February 20, and the notice date for that is 03/01 on the initial reciept they mailed me. But a few days ago when they notified me of the interview they said that my priority date was 02/20 which is the RD?? It makes more sense to me to use the date on which you recieved an application as the date to act on it, on not some other date which a bureaucrat finally laid their fingers on the papers.

hmmmm need I say more? I am so bored, I am leaving no stone unturned.
 
I think you turned a couple of stones...

RD, ND & PD are all different things.

RD: When USCIS acknowledges the receipt of your application. Put files in a folder or something.

ND: When USCIS actually does something to your application. Put it in the computer system, checks something, sends you something (a Notice of Action) and most of the times such things will produce an LUD in your case.

PD: When USCIS will accept your application to process your immigrant petition.

Correct me if I am wrong.

ps: I know you are letting off steam... some of us need to... but I was more confused by your post than enlighted :p sorry.
 
Well I dont know whats confusing about my post, all i described was the exact communication to me from CIS. In simple terms it appears to me that RD & PD are the same. People in this forum have said in the past when counting days start from ND and not RD for example for an AED, but since PD=RD, it kinda gives me the sense that people might not have been necessarily truthful in their assertions.

What's your status Hugo Chaves' cousin? :)

Anyways, I guess I misunderstood your post. I do count from the ND though... not like it matters, it is only a 7 days difference give or take.

What status? RFE rcvd and case resumed? pending? :)

No. The Priority Date is the date you started the process for an immigrant visa. For a Family-Based applicant, this is the date the I-130 was filed. For employment-based, it is the day the Labor Certification was filed, or EB1 and some EB2, it's the date the I-140 was filed. Immediate Relatives have no priority date, since they are not numerically limited.

Sounds like you are saying an EAD for example has no priority date? That would make sense coz I only say the PD on the interview appointment letter.
