Questions to actual green card

Just for my curiosity. You have to/should keep the green card with you at all time. On the back side of the card, there is probably very sensitive medium which probably contains some data. What this card really endure?

What if the plastic green card just wear and tear (destroy) and no longer works? I wonder if any of you ever had problem with that?

It seems that this card is very easy to wear out when carried long long years in pocket.

Second question is, what if your gc gets stolen? How easy/difficult is to replace it?

I kept my GC (in its sleeve) in my wallet for 2 years and 11 months. It worked fine at the POE a few days before I surrendered it.

The process is easy enough, although it is expensive and takes a long time to come. The status is separate from the physical green card, so as long as you promptly applied for a replacement you should be fine. Try not to lose it! I don't know how much of a hassle international travel would be while waiting for a replacement, I imagine with your receipt and passport you would be okay.

I carry my GC with me in my wallet. I keep it inside the sleeve provided by USCIS. I have been carrying it since last 4 years like that (WOW! it has been 4 years since I got my GC :)). Anyway, on my recent trip overseas, I got totally wet in the rain and my wallet got totally wet too. On the the way back, the GC just worked fine when scanned at the POE. So I think it can withstand a lot.
