Question

visa-aspirant

I have applied for N-400 and just finished bio-metrics. Now I am looking to get married to my fiancee who is here on a F1-visa.
1) Are there any problems in getting married while N-400 is pending. How do I disclose that I am married, during the N-400 interview. Is there a form that I need to fill out.
2) My fiancee entered U.S in July. Is there a minimum time that we have to wait before getting married, so that her visa status is not jeopardized.

Thanks.

You can arrange a good timing so that you get citizenship before your wife
need to renew her F-1. visa. F-1 visa is not supposed to be issued to people
who have intent to immigrate. When a F-1 student marries a PR, she is thought to have intent to immigrate. She can enter pending stage if you
can petition for her GC and when visa nnumber is avaliabel for her. If you
are a citizen, her visa number is immiediately available. if you are just a PR, then her visa number will not be avalaible in roughly 5 years during which she
has to maintain her legal statu on her own.

It is hard to arrange future so there nothing you can gurantte but you can
arrange soemthing that has the best odds for teh good and lowest odds
for the bad based upon your own perception

On the N-400 there is a section asking for your spouse's information. Make sure you have that information in your head or on paper when you go to the interview, so you can ask the interviewer to update the N-400 with her information. And bring the marriage certificate to the interview.

60 days after entry, preferably 90 days to minimize the risk of having problems with her GC application due to immigrant intent. But it's already more than 90 days anyway.
