Hello Gurus, I have an issue for my son who is 19 yrs and living in Norway. I applied for his Permanent Residence (I30) this May 2007. Is it possible if he can come to USA on Tourist Visa and can stay long until his
I30 approve????? Appreciate your inputs !!!!!

Assuming he holds a Norwegian passport, he can travel to the US for 3 months. He surely cannot stay until the I-130 is approved. There is also a possibility that he may be denied entry to the US becuase of the pending I-130.

Did you become a US citizen before he turned 18? If yes, he may be able to directly get derivative citizenship instead of getting a green card first.

I don't think he can wait in the US while the I-130 is pending, unless on a long-term visa like H1B. But ask your questions in the family-based green card forum of this web site; you'll get more and better answers there.

The child cannot get citizenship based on the parent's naturalisation if the child was not an LPR when the parent became a US citizen.
