Question regarding my status (F1 to H1)

I have a question regarding my status. I am currently on F1 visa doing my Masters degree. I got a full time job in a company which has applied for my H1B. I got the receipt (with SRC no) on July end. I would like to know whether I am presently in status or not. Am I supposed to maintain my status of F1 till I get my H1B?

Your H1 is pending so your status is preserved. To start working for the company you can do a EAD - OPT and use that until H1 approval is got.
