Hi! seeking prof help...
I am a Canadian who have been studying in the US for the past 8 years on I-20.
I am currently on OPT (Optional Practical Training) which allows recent college graduates to stay a year after graduation to work in the states. this works for all international students, not just Canadian.
I just graduated from a university in Pennsylvania and obtained an OPT that will last until this coming summer (august 08); i was hired by a production company in LA and have been working there since graduation.. my options now are:
1. spend lots of $$ and apply for H1 and risk not getting it
2. spend a lot less $$ and apply for a TN at POE (obviously a better choice?)
The problem is, my job title does not neccessary match with the qualified jobs. I do do a little graphic design (which is the closest thing that qualifies), but my title is actually production coordinator... My company is very small, and my boss/supervisors have not experienced international workers before. They don't know anything about VISA... etc, but they are willing to do almost anything to help me get one (except they probably don't know what to expect).
Now what are some of the things I should be doing or start preparing or expect or ask my boss to do?.. any suggestion for someone in such special case like me? Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated. THank you so much!
