question on EAD

I'm currently working on EAD. If I apply for its renewal and dont get the renewal approved before its current expiration date, can I still continue to work?

I know that once H1 transfer/extension application is sent the beneficiary continues to work until a decision is made on that case. Does this also apply for EAD renewals?

As far as I know, that does not apply to EAD. No EAD no work, period.
It used to be that way with H1-b. I remember not being able to work on h1b while in transition from one emp to another due to delayed processing. But then the former president Clinton signed something into a law, and immediately after that I was allowed to work even while the paper work was pending!! Wish the same were true with EAD, but not at the moment.

anybody else has different opinion?

You can NOT work without a valid EAD. Just submitting it is not enough.
The only option you have is to go to your local office for an interim EAD but you can't do that until your EAD has been with them for over 90 days from the receipt date.

I can give you a different opinion, but it would be incorrect. ;)

Keep in mind that gaps in legal employment of up to 180 days can be forgiven by 245k.

Ya Real Canadian. Officially you can accrue 180 days of "non authorized work"
I know because I had 20 days between H-1B expiry and when my first EAD was approved. But officially you can't work with valid authorization. 245k is a nice loophole though.
But it is better to have the authorization before hand. There are too many people in here that wait way to long to apply for renewals and then they are in a panic. Why these people wait is beyond me. The same goes for the Advance parole. They wait until a few weeks before they need it they wonder how to get themselves out of their own messes.
I saw a post in here where someone has got emergency parole twice. Lucky they gave it to him but maybe it would be better that they didn't. He did not worry about applying early and his advice is you could always get emergeny parole. Oh brother.
Oh well so much for my soapbox stand. :) I know it won't make a difference, but you need to vent sometimes.
