Question: Not guilty, case dropped. Any issues with Citizenship?

Dear Forum Members,

Hope you could help me with an advice & answer.

2 years ago I was arrested for felony possession of class B. The charge was dropped and case dismissed.

Now I am ready to apply for US citizenship. What’s the worst that could happen? Since I was not found guilty, is there a chance I can get Citizenship with the first try or can they just say NO or give me some more time to wait?

Thanks!

Walter

You have to disclose it in your N400 application and provide the full certified details of court documents.

Was it completely dismissed with no penalty whatsoever? If you had to do anything like community service, pay a fine, get probation, etc. USCIS would consider it to be a conviction for immigration purposes even though it was dismissed.

The worst is deportation. The second worst is citizenship get denied and GC is OK but you lost $ 675 dollars.

How was the charge dropped? Did you have to court to court and enter a plea?
Without knowing if/what you pleaded, it's impossible to provide you a reliable answer.
