Question about I-140

I-140 is used to petition for an immigrant visa based on the employment of the applicant. This needs to be filed for an alien worker to get the status of a Legal Permanent Resident of the US, so that staying and working in the US will not be a problem.

Can anyone tell me what is I-140 visa for?

The I-140 is not a visa. It is a petition for an immigrant alien worker. MOST I-140s are filed by a U.S. employer seeking an alien worker. There are numerous visa classifications for which the employer may seek a qualified alien worker. Read all about it at www.uscis.gov
