Question about Case Number and number of winners of each region

That means if 100,000 applicants are selected via KCC, then there is about 50,000 Principals and only 25,000 Principals finally will be successful during interview.

That sounds about right. The only thing worse is that in the last couple of years (like 2006 and 2007), only about ~43k out of 50k visas were actually issued.

What I have always wondered about is the effect of including dependents in the original count (100k). How does it affect the rank numbers?

The odds of becoming an LPR through the DV program are far worse than most people comprehend.

These odds depend a great deal on the number of entries that are disqualified each year, e.g. due to bad photos or duplicate entries ... Are there any reliable statistics in this regard?

However, whether you apply from France or Germany, your chances of winning are exactly the same since neither country seems to be anywhere close to hitting the 7% limit.

If you are from a country where more than 3,500 winning notifications were sent out, tough luck since not everybody will be able to get a visa.

So are you saying that if your country is nowhere close to hitting that 7% limit, your chances to win the lottery are very good?

The 7% limit only means that once 3500 DV-visas have been issued for a given country, no more DV-visas will be issued and every other "winner" there will miss out on a chance to get a green card.

If you are not from a country that hits the 7%, the chances of getting a green card after being registered are higher, but in the end you still need to be selected first and the odds of that still aren't that high.

Do countries like Germany or France, who have a "low" number of GCs compared to other big countries, have a lot of registration for the DV lottery?
I can't find a way to know how many people are entering the lottery per country, to see basically the odds regarding certain countries.

Statistically, the fact that countries like Albania, Uzbekistan and Ukraine have such large numbers of selected winners compared to Germany and France suggests that there were also many more participants from those countries. (The number of selected entries is roughly proportional to the number of registrations from that country.)

The economic situation, the standard of living and the overall level of satisfaction are important factors that explain why you see many winners from countries of the former Soviet Union, Albania and Turkey and relatively few from the well-off Western European nations. With Russia being admitted to DV-2010, we can expect a large number of participants from there as well.

And that thing about France having a higher living standard........here's the turth........France sucks okay........Germany is a lot better...

All people do in France is be jealous of the US......

They can't stand the fact that the US is the greatest country in the world.

The Human Development Index by the United Nations ranks countries based on typical factors that define the standard of living, i.e. life expectancy, literacy, education and GDP per capita.

Note that the 2007/2008 report lists France at #10, the US at #12 and Germany at #22, so it's difficult to argue that France is a lot better than Germany or that the French are very envious of the US.
