Query regarding possession of L2 and H1 at the same time

Sir,
My name is Nagarjuna and I am working for a software company in India (chennia). My company has applied L1 for me, the stamping date is on 22nd Nov 06. As i got married recently i have processed L2 for my wife from my company. My wife is working in a software company. Her company has processed H1 for her and she got H1 Stamping date on 30 Nov 06. Now my question is can she hold both L2 and H1 visa ?

My friend told me that she can have only one visa. If that is the case then which is the visa she will have. if she can hold both the visa then what type of question can be asked to her when she goes for H1 stamping (after L2)?

I want to hold both the visa for her.If you think there is a better way for me please suggest.

Thanks
Nagarjuna

Technically, she can have 2 visas at the same time. The risk is if she already has one visa stamp in passport, and goes for another visa stamp, the 1st stamp may be cancelled. If what she wants was H1, I recommend to go for only H1 stamp. She can change her status to L2 after she comes to the US if necessary.

Thanks for the reply, but i fought with my company to get L2 for my wife, and some how i got approval now we are in a situation where we want to go for L2 stamping for her. At the same "Technically, she can have 2 visas at the same time." so there are probability she can hold both ? (is there any history of holding both the visa's).

I have one more doubt from you answer, If she get H1, and i am in US on L1, can i bring her to US on H1 (not from her employer) on my expense ???

She can have both if consulate cancels the one when she tries to get another. That is difficult to predict.

H1 is sponsored by employer, and again technically employer should pay the expense. Howevre, it is also true that some people even pays for their own H1 application which is supposed to be paid by employer. So, go figure.
