Queries on L1 and H4

hello,
I have h4 visa stamped on my passport. Now my company is trying to take L1 for me. I would like to know some information about Visa,

1) what happens to H4 visa when i get L1 stamped? will H4 be canceled ?
2) If i go to US in L1, if i resign my job from there, L1 will be cancelled. Then can i change to H4 visa status?
3) Can i apply for H1 visa, when i am at US in L1 Visa ? In this situation also, what happens to my H4 ?

Please let me know the details,

A1: Most likely
A2: Yes you can COS from L1 to H4
A3: Yes you can COS from L1 to H1. Your H4 is not a variable here since you entered the US on an L1.

I dint understand your answer clearly.. what u mean by 'Most Likely' as the answer for first question. did u mean my H4 will be canceled when i get L1 or H4 will not be canceled ?

also, if i go in h4, when i apply for H1, will that application is coming to regular quota ?

Your asked "will H4 be cancelled?"
I replied "Most likely".
That meant, "most likely your other non-immigrant visas (including your H-4)will be cancelled".
If you are in H-4 status and apply for H-1B, yes it will come out of the regular quota unless the company is a non-profit organisation.
 
When H4 will be cancelled

On Entry to the country in L1 or When L1 is stamped while i am in India ?

your status will be changed to L1. L1 is a lot better visa than H4 anyway.

yes you can change it to H4 but if you held a L1 and changed your spouse's visa to L2 she would be able to work. one of the advantages of L visa is that spouses are allowed to work.

you need to talk to your lawyer about the pros and cons both H1 and L1. L is one of the best visas available
