Qualifying for DV by Work Experience

@britsimon

Yes, I agree, it is case specific and job specific (the % s vary from job to job).
What I said was in general, and that one has to weigh in all the available info and be knowledgeable how the process work.

I DID NOT mean to discourage anyone, not at all !!

btw, I noticed late that Momo says he is in fact HS qualified, so I hope the job route he is contemplating is just a backup plan.

I am not sure when/where in the DV process one has to 'select' the route, is it in DSP 122?
In any case the rule of thumb in DV is not to complicate/confuse things unnecessarily, if you have HS just present that, its the least tortuous path!!

Best!

Yeah Momo has all bases covered - and he knows he could get by on HS alone, but he wants to leave no wiggle room for the CO. Something tells me that Momo will be in control of the interview on Aug 7...

You only "select" the route by presenting evidence at the interview - the Ds122 as I recall asks about both education and work experience.
In any case it's not as simple as high school diploma - check. I have a masters degree, but they still asked about my job and also asked what my husband does. The bottom line is that you have to show them that you won't become a public charge.

That makes perfect sense. I do think they are looking to reassure themselves that they aren't sending a lamb to slaughter... We just have to give them the evidence that will convince them we have a chance of surviving the experience....

Big Like +1.

Cheers Simon! :)

Hello Susie,

Of course I agree with you. I think its a given that one of the questions they'd ask is what one does for work presently.

Public charge - well I think anyone with a decent amount of money to show in their bank statements (over $100,000) is perhaps obviously less likely to become a public charge but I may be mistaken if that person decides to head to Las Vegas first as a port of entry lol :p

Seriously? Common, tone it down a bit. Obviously you're not the typical DV applicant, and considering that most DV applicants or most of the people using this forum to try and better their chances with the DV lottery are everyday joneses, you could do a better job of aligning your responses or postings to such.

Whoa!!! Chill I wasn't referring to myself at all!

I'm everyday bloke as well just like everyone else hence I said anyone in my statement. It was supposed to be a joke hence I mentioned Vegas!

Sheeeeeshhhhh.....

Man sometimes I feel like DV howitzers being pointed at me lol...I mean yes this whole process is a serious matter for all of us but until that entry visa is actually in our passports, nothing else is in our control so why accelerate the ageing process over it???

No, you need to chill! Maybe some jokes are simply in bad taste.

Hey I don't seem to remember having a tiff with you in any of the other posts so what's the crack?

I backed off and am holding a white flag so what are you getting so confrontational for?

Do you generally dislike people with money if I may ask?

No I don't have a personal tiff with you either, just telling you you're beginning to sound obnoxious again (like aos13 pointed out to you sometime last year) and you need to tone it down!

'What's the crack'??? You're waving a white flag with your right hand while throwing a sucker punch with the left by asking me if I generally dislike people with money? Really?? What could be more obnoxious than this? Some white flag indeed! Congratulations on your having Donald Trump-like parents.

I will certainly not engage you on this issue again.
