Proving presence in the US

Has anyone been asked to prove presence in the US?
I travel a great deal, and I have kept a diary of when I have left and returned, but I don't necessarily have the stamps to prove it (the US has no exit stamp and my home country doesn't stamp my passport when I enter).
 
I guess it depends on how close you are on breaking the continuous residence of physical presence requirements.
 
Everything in the last 5 years has been by air. Total number of days is around 180, so well under the threshold. But I thought they didn't have exit records?
 
I thought they didn't have exit records as well. Whenever I live the US (by air), i never get screened or stamped, but on the way back they swipe the green card and ask me how long I was out for.

If you leave the US by air you provide passport info to the airline who then sends it to CBP. This is how they record exit record.

2 out of the 3 times when I exited via air with my GC, they swiped the GC at the airline check-in counter. That could be used for exit records.

And now a passport is required for air travel outside US, so it's a sure bet that passenger manifests with passport information is sent to DHS and is used to record exit record.
