Proof that someone did not obtain employment while abroad?

What would be proof that someone did not obtain employment while abroad? I just can’t think of any document?

Any input?
 
Perhaps a letter from the foreign government labor department indicating that they don't have any record of you working (ie no income taxes withheld). Also, a sworn letter attesting to the purpose of your extended travel. (ie non work related).
 
I would think your US tax returns would be sufficient for the time you were abroad. If you did file your US taxes while abroad

A signed, dated notarized letter with the wording "I, your name, hereby swear, under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America, that I did not engage in employment during travel outside the US during the period from date to date."
