Can someone tell me, how long it takes for the processing of J-1 waiver for physicians once you file your application these days.

is it for physicians or is it hardship waiver? These are two different waivers and approximate processing times for them are listed on DOS website.

My case is underreview with UCIS for Hardship waiver for 2yr HRR. My question is once, i see favourable status change on State Department website, can i change my status to H-1 or F-1 immediately or i will need the actual document from UCIS before i can proceed further. The reason for hurry is that my J-1 visa will end on Sept 30, 2005. I am giving you a scenario, lets say my application status say favourable but i have not reaceived the actual document and it is already middle of October. Can i stay more than 30 days past my J-1 visa expiration date or not, if my case has favourable result.

yes, you have a grace period of 30 days. Usually, you would get a hard copy of your favorable recommendation withi 4 weeks. If your case were a no-objection one, you could go ahead and apply for change of status with a copy of the recommendation. However, I have read that it's only reserved for no-objection and IGA cases. After your case is forwarded to USCIS, it's probably take about a month for the waiver to be approved. Check the I-612 processing times for your service center.
