Processing time for green card based on asylum

Hi everyone, How can I correct mistakes in our already filed I-485? It seems like my lawyers’ office staff mistakenly switched the roles of the primary applicant and the derivative in the category column. My error was corrected when I reviewed my application in response to the Request for Evidence (RFE).

When I asked about other applications correction, They mentioned that it appears to be in good condition because USCIS didn’t issue an RFE. However, if USCIS discovers this error during the adjudication process, will they send an RFE or deny the application? Is there anyway I can correct it?

if i were you, I would wait until the interview and discuss it there.

Why does the USCIS website still shows that it takes 15.5 months to process 80% of asylum-based I-485 applications?
I saw the news said that processing speed had slowed down significantly. Has the website just not been updated yet?

What news are you referring to?

This is done online.
My lawyer asked me for $250 to file a service request. This is because I'm having a delay in getting my green card through the application process. Is this amount exaggerated or not? I want him to do it so the process is more accurate and professional. What do you think of this?

You can do it yourself, it takes 5 minutes to fill out the form!

but he told me that he needs to talk to them by phone. this is difficult for me.
If you want to submit an inquiry, this can be done online — there's no need to call. If you need to request expedited processing, you must have a valid reason. You can ask a Tier 2 officer to call you back to process your expedite request.

Yes, I have a reason. My mother is sick. I also brought a medical report.

That's not enough reason to expedite a green card but they will expedite refugee travel document for you!!! having a green card wont help you in anything even if your mother is sick!! you need travel document expedition

How long should you CURRENTLY wait after asylum grant to apply for green card?

I am reading this topic and seems that most people are waiting over a year and along with news about recent slow downs in processing, it makes me think I should apply as soon as asylum is granted rather than wait 1 year to file only to end up waiting 2 more years in processing.

What do you think? I was granted in June and thinking about applying next month.

My Case was granted in Jan. I filed the form I-485 in April, USCIS received date on receipt was May, fingerprints were taken in May, and received the RFE in June. I responded to the RFE in July. They will receive my RFE in August. So far this is my progress.

Thanks for responding, so far it seems your case is moving along, is it possible they approve your case before Jan 2026 when you complete one year after grant? second questions, since you applied so early what did you submit to prove continuous presence for 1 year?

Thanks for your message! 1. Yes, it’s possible that USCIS could approve my case before January 2026, but even if they do, they usually won’t issue the green card until I’ve completed the full one-year continuous physical presence requirement after my case was granted. 2. Since I applied early, I included documents like lease agreements, utility bills, employment details , and other records to show I’ve been continuously present in the U.S. since the grant date, without any travel or significant gaps.

Appreciate your response.

Any concerns about getting approved in error before 1 year (some people on reddit claim that happened although I personally don't buy it)

For i-485 Part 3 should we select 1.e since we don't need to provide affidavit of support?
