Processing time for green card based on asylum

Appreciate your response.

Any concerns about getting approved in error before 1 year (some people on reddit claim that happened although I personally don't buy it)

For i-485 Part 3 should we select 1.e since we don't need to provide affidavit of support?
It’s been seven months, and I don’t think it will be approved in the next five months.

Regarding the part 3 questions, my lawyer’s office filed it for me. Sorry I don’t remember if it should be marked or not.

Hey guys,

Did anyone had GC based on asylum interviews last month?
Because I have mine next week. I would like to ask, how it was?

Just filed for i-485, my grant was vey recent but given that you can file anytime but the approval can't happen until 1 year after grant, I figured might as well get in line specially with recent processing slowness and the fact that processing times page on uscis website is showing that green card applications based on asylee status just went from 15.5 months to 16 months so I highly doubt they will look at my application until its been a year after my grant, wish me luck!

I waited for almost 3 months and then applied for GC
Asylum approved Feb 2024
GC applied: June 2024
GC received: Nov 2024
I-90 filled: Dec 2024
Hi guys,
So there is an update on my case.
Uscis after almost 8 months have closed my i-90 case. They have denied my application saying that there is no error or mistake in my current green card.
( I explained each and everything with dates and copy of all the documents ).
Not sure what to do now

Hi, what is the date of issue on GC?

What if you simply don't apply for citizenship until 5 years after asylum grant rather than 5 years after green card resident since date.

This way you are not gaining citizenship before you should and if at any point they give you a hard time you can explain that they issued the green card early due to their mistake (don't mention you applied early) and that you attempted to fix it by filing i-90 and they didn't do anything about it and keep your i-90 receipt and response

You should be good.

This might be helpful for someone.
I had my interview today. Officer just asked questions about my name, date of birth, citizen of what country you are, where you live right now, who do you live with. Only this kind questions.
At the end she said unfortunately your form 693 expired. We will send you a letter to renew it and that’s it.
Good luck to all of you!

Form i-693 doesn't expire currently and is good for one filing, has your application been pending since 2023 or so? When did you complete your medical exam?

Thank you for the feedback. Many people in this room said the interview is just a few questions about I485 application filed and it doesn't not take more than 30 mins or a hour.

Keep copies of all of your correspondences. You have done your part. Hopefully, at the time of citizenship, they will not notice or care. If they do, show them documentation of everything. Meanwhile, enjoy your GC.

My question simply is was all your dealings done with an attorney? Remember we are all ill equipped to really know what is correct or not , if however your attorney says it’s okay then enjoy !!

While he pledged to reduce adjudication times, Edlow warned that shortcuts won’t be part of the strategy.

"There may be short-term pain," he said. "But we will decrease the backlog at a steady clip while protecting the integrity and security of the system."
