problem for citizenship for Domestic Violence issue happened before GC application?

Hi Guys,

Please consider the fact that the family court issues (temporary) Order of Protections with very little proof if at all any. If you have a vindictive spouse you could rack up a few of these in no time. The sad part is that USCIS sees this as a pattern and could deny a n-400 petition!

Agree. Fortunately, the court usually considers both sides of the story.

I also agree that it's a good idea to consult with a lawyer before filing N-400. There were legislative changes that may make someone deportable.

Hi lazycis,

Tks for the info, this gives me some hope. I was thinking of meeting with my IO one more time and presenting him with a recommendation letter from my employer and a write up of how good a father I am as a stay at home parent for over three and a half years nurturing for my four kids when they needed a parents affection and attention the most. I believe (and hope) this may stop them from denying me and thus not requiring me to appeal. Anybody share some light please, tks.

Hello, my brother is married to a US citizen and she petitioned for him and the I-130 was approved. However they're no longer together and she never showed up to any immigration appointments and therefore immigration had my brother withdraw his case. Immigration said they would put him in removal proceedings in about 30 days. Right now he has a pending court hearing for domestic violence. If the restraining order against him gets approved, will he still be able to get his green card in the future?
