"Priority date"?

Hello,

My last e-mail from the NVC, in which I was told NVC has all my documents (DS-230 etc.) and that I will be contacted soon with an interview date, came with a "priority date": 26AUG2008. That is when we first filed. What further consequence or significance does this date have? Do we move up in the queue according to our priority date?

I-129F's do not have a priority date like some I-130s do. Once approved they are queued up as far as the local consulate load is concerned. It is very much possible that the local US consulate will use the I-129F receipt date to prioritize and schedule interviews.

What further consequence or significance does this date have?
