Hi Let me clarify I am no where close to US citizenship or Indian OCI card.

But assuming I get both of above in future which might be best country and easy options for triple citizenship in future assuming I can not survive in India because of rising issues with air, water and population and other related issues. On other hand US will have issue with health care cost becasuse of my old age etc.

So can experts like tripple citizen and other throw in some possible options to think for the Indisn OCI and US citizen. Assume that this new (third country !!) immigration process will start after aquiring US citizenship. Also take in to consider weather conditions. I would probably try to avoid cold if possible.

Look forward for informative discussion

Haha. Well, I don't know what to tell you, but just so you know, OCI and PIO are NOT considered citizenship, so you will not be a dual citizen when you become a US citizen. You will only be a US citizen with the right to live and work in India (like an Indian LPR), so look forward to becoming a DUAL citizen in future.

thanks let say US citizenship + OCI +.................... .
Give the best choices for the blank !!!!

Would it not depend on you? Would you prefer Canadian Weather or Australian? What qualifications you have? Do you have preferred job opportunities in your area of expertise? I am not asking these questions ... it is rhetorical.

i have phd in engineering. but at that time i might be too old for career look and i might prefer hot weather and recent incidents in australia ask me to be careful before moving there as Indian. Canada I like evrything except cold weather and hot taxes. Isn't any other good choices for filling the blank !!

I vagely remember this, but isn't there a rule that after becoming a naturalized US citizen, if one "voluntarily" takes the citizenship of another country, then they are automatically surrenduring their US citizenship.

No, there should be an intent to relinquish US citizenship. Taking a citizenship oath in another country, even if it symbolically requires a person to renounce previous citizenships, is not considered to be such intent as per Department of State manual.

^ Voluntarily acquisition of another citizenship does not result in the loss of US citizenship if there was no such intent.

In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship.

They must have made that clear now as I do not remember the intention part. At the time I had wondered myself that there was no logic in that kind of rule and that one would be caught in a battle between voluntary and unvoluntary acception of foreign citizenship. I left that topic alone realizing once again that, logic does not apply to US immigration matters. Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for good finds but still issue is confusing

Hi

Thanks for good finds and taking part in the discussions. And also sorry I have no plan for any thing except to apply and become US Citizen.

But always better to know the rules and options. Here are the details from DOS website

"However, a person who acquires a foreign citizenship by applying for it may lose U.S. citizenship. In order to lose U.S. citizenship, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign citizenship voluntarily, by free choice, and with the intention to give up U.S. citizenship. "

So if you dont have intention to give up US citizenship or OCI card any time, can the person hypothetically acquire other countries citizenship after naturalization as US citizen or it is not possible.

Also triple citizen can shed light on the topic too !!!
