Possible TN issue?

So I have TN status and it won't expire for another 2.5 years but a little while ago I had to send off my passport to get it renewed and so before I did, just in case, I took my I-94 out of it.

A problem arose when my pipes froze and involved a wet towel being thrown on top of my loose I-94 by the plumber who came to fix the pipes and I didn't realize it until later on.

So basically, half of the ink on the I-94 is smudged to the point of not being able to read it. Is this going to be an issue when crossing the border in the future? Is there anything I have to do in the meantime?

I have to go to Nigeria for work in early March and I'm going to Canada for personal reasons in May and just wanted to make sure whether this will or will not be an issue.

Thanks for your help.

CB that quite literally sucks!
I seem to remember a number in red on the top of the card can you still read that?
At least with that they can actually look up you record.
I would think the worst is that you'll have to pay another $6 next return into the US for another I-94. Just in case though, your next trip out of the US I would take your last TN package with you.

@jjeng:

Well I took it out on the off chance that the passport got lost or something else happened to it.

Turns out my precautionary measure caused a different problem.

So now I have run into another problem. I should have just put my TN away in a safe place for the time being but for whatever reason, I left it on the dining room table.

Well today my dog decided it looked tasty and ripped it to shreds. So now my I-94 is in about 20 individual pieces.

What do I need to do to rectify this?

The dog ate my I-94..... I hope you aren't going to Nigeria to marry a high-ranking official with a problem extracting money from the country. I am helping her, not you!

So when I get back into the country, you guys think I should just ask for them to issue me a new I-94? Are there any inherent risks to that? Could they possibly deny me entry? I know that's always a possibility but what are my chances of that happening?

Would you suggest filing an I-102 instead to get a replacement one or just follow webtiger's advice up above?

I just called the USCIS hotline and it was completely useless. In about 20 minutes on the line I couldn't figure out how to talk to an actual person.
