Many people are reporting that their LUD changed prior to getting approved (these are changes to the LUD with no corresponding change to the status message which probably indicates that someone has looked at the case).

Could approved people please respond to the following poll so we can get a better idea of how common this is and how close to the approval the LUD changes occured?

This could be useful information for those of us planning to travel with I-485's which are close to approval...

I think it might be important to know how many changed in LUD were before the approval/transfer ... maybe 1,2,3 LUD changes are followed by approval, more than that -> transfer and eventually how often were the LUD changes for transfer cases... just a thought

Yes > 3 and more LUD change almost always result in RFE / transfer, or if you have responded to a RFE

If you are right, then I may have RFE/transfer coming pretty soon.

That was true in my case. Was awarded an RFE on 11/17. See sig for details.

My LUD never changed since the FP received msg on 11/4 and I got approval mails yesterday.
 
So far there doesn't seem to be any solid trend (although we don't have too much data yet).

If was hoping that if everyone was getting LUD changes 2+ weeks prior to approval and my LUD hadn't changed, then I could book a trip outside the US without worrying about getting approved right before leaving.

But, we have 4 people who had no LUD change at all prior to approval...

The overall trend seems to be that a few LUD changes close to each other indicate that a major development in the case is likely to occur relatively soon. Of course, we did not need a poll to figure that out.
 
Which is not to suggest that the poll is useless. Hopefully, when more people participate in the poll, we'll be able to see a few additional trends.

Actually, we can't deduce that from this poll since it's only for people who actually had their I-485 approved. The goal was to see whether your LUD tends to change prior to actual approvals (i.e. approval implies LUD change?) as opposed to whether a LUD change implies an imminent approval (which would require people who had LUD changes but didn't get approved to also respond).

Even for people who were approved, there is no trend IMO -- almost 50% of the approvals came with no LUD change.

You are right, we cannot conclude that from this particular poll. Of course, I did not claim that we can.
